Bitter Confrontation by Stephen A. Dantes

Bitter Confrontation

Pleasure kisses the Sunset
and beckons the Twilight to wink at its fortune.

With an ostentatious pomp
the Sunset smiles back in the morrow
warning of transients to a state that's hand-hewn.

Reminded of its silent reality oft rejected as truth
Pleasure remains mute, reticent, but bold.

Risks and is risked,
scourges and is scourged,
enjoys and is enjoyed,
takes, never gives
until it realizes its loneliness in the world
and the limitations of its friend, audacity.

Then the Sunset kisses Pleasure
not for self
but to remind of its own brother, its twin
that one which rises and claims the promise
the same that holds morrow's key.
