This poem along with the painting is a dedication to a charitable children's fountation called "Pawasol Pour Ti Mamai" meaning Children's Umbrella Group in St. Lucia. It is a collaboration between poet Stephen Dantes and painter Oli Wallace.

 

Promise

Freedom I suppose awaits yonder

No,

Freedom I propose

A conviction bolder

Affixed gaze through the lilac of grace

Through space to place

Transverse in the metaphysical to the paranormal

A reality aesthetically floating

Shy to hold but bold to touch

Freedom awaits those like me

Whose eyes are rooted in the beauty of a dream

A promise awaits me

An elope to paradise

As I peek through hope’s glimmer entrapped within a window frame
